Why are we like this??? Making this work can often feel like a compulsion. I mean it’s a choice, sure, but also kind of not. It’s often difficult, and even when it’s going well it’s still hard work. Why do we put ourselves through all this?
Then I remember: Because it brings us joy, meaning, and a sense of purpose. Because in many ways it feels like an extension of who we are. Because it’s beautiful.
About the Artists
Adam J. Kurtz (aka Adam JK) is a designer, artist, author and speaker whose illustrative work is rooted in honesty, humor and a little darkness. His books have been translated into over a dozen languages. Kurtz speaks frankly about channeling human emotion into our art, and generally just trying to be more okay with whatever we’ve got.
