Elephant dung and glitter

Having been classified as "punk art", Chris Ofili's art often involves different elements alongside paint including lumps of elephant dung and glitter, amongst other materials to create intricate and multi-layered works. Although, over time ,his art ideas evolved and while his material choices changed he kept his authentic style, sourcing his inspiration from historical events to convey messages about black culture and history.
