Who is Marina Abramovic?

Marina Abramovic (b. 1946, Belgrade) is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for over four decades, her ground-breaking and controversial works centre on the themes of body art, feminism and endurance art. Abramovic currently lives and works in New York, and her works are held in collections around the world, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, and the Reina Sofia National Museum in Madrid.
